What is a Registered Nurse Patient Advocate?
You need guidance and support that is healthcare savvy and fluent in healthcare language when dealing with the complex healthcare system. CAHL RN Patient Advocates are just that. We possess extensive clinical experience, health insurance knowledge, understand your unique healthcare needs, and know what will be required of you while going through your healthcare journey.
An alliance between you and CAHL RN Patient Advocates ensures you are aware of all your treatment options, you ask appropriate questions, and you understand the information you receive. This means you will be empowered to make informed decisions, that are appropriate for you, and result in the best outcomes for your specific situation.
Are CAHL services covered by insurance?
Our services are NOT covered by insurance. We celebrate that fact, and you should too. Working independently means that the services we provide are not regulated by your health insurance provider.
This keeps us unbiased and accountable to you during engagements. Your benefit coverage is always considered when discussing your care but is does not dictate the healthcare options we can explore and the resources we offer.
How do CAHL services differ from advocates and navigators at the hospital or insurance company?
Their allegiance is to their employer. They prioritize saving cost and avoiding risk, because they are required to. The interventions they provide are heavily influenced by their employer and are typically standardized which means your specific needs may not be top priority. Also, their relationships are confined to the time you are in the hospital or the timeframes allotted for outreach programs (for insurance companies).
Because we are employed by you, our priority is you. We work independently and are empowered to be objective. This means we make decisions solely based on your best interest and give you resources and support that hospital and insurance advocates cannot.
How do doctors and hospitals feel about support service provided by CAHL?
Independent Registered Nurse Patient Advocacy and Healthcare Navigators is a new concept. This means that doctors and facilities are not always familiar with our role initially. We ultimately all want the same thing and that is the best outcome for you. Once we introduce ourselves and communicate our intentions for support; any apprehension or uncertainty held by providers and hospital staff is quickly alleviated. We become a team with enhanced abilities in communication, care coordination and overall support. This equals optimal outcomes for you.
